Race for the Cure, October 11, 2008

What a beautiful morning it was!
Although, I could have stood it a
little cooler. We got up EARLY,
& headed over to pick up Mom so
we could meet the rest of our girls
& guys downtown to walk in the
Komen Family Walk in the Race
for the Cure. As usual, we walked
in memory of Mary Opal Schoemaker,
mother...grandmother...wife...
matriarch of our family. This year
was also of significance because we
walked in honor of Jill. Jill...wife...aunt...
sister...friend...step mom...grandma...
the heiress to the matriarchal crown of
the Schoemaker family....and now
breast cancer survivor. SURVIVOR!
By the grace of God Himself...survivor.
Through the power of prayer...survivor.
Through love & support...survivor.
It was a distinct pleasure for us all
to accompany my Aunt Jill across the
finish line as a one year survivor of
breast cancer. What an inspiration she
has been to all of us...neices...nephews...
sisters...brothers...friends...familly.
All I can say is, "you go, girl!" We love
you!

Over 50,000 participants, including many, many
survivors!

Hmmmm....very interesting! But totally cute!

A little trip to the Old Mill...

We love to visit the Old Mill in North Little Rock.
It is so beautiful there. The day we went it was
gorgeous! We had finished the Arkansas Race for
the Cure and eaten lunch, and our cousins were
with us. The kids asked to go to the Old Mill.
They like to play hide & seek and such, just like
I used to do! If you haven't been there, you should
take some time to visit, especially since the fall is
here and the leaves are changing. It's one of our
local scenic sites.

I hope you enjoy the pics!
